The Foxes: Try Archery Sessions
The Foxes offers the opportunity for both individuals and groups of friends, family or colleagues to
try archery and have fun along the way. We have a number of options available:
Taster Session – 2 hours
The aim of this session is to allow you to come and try archery and see if it is for you. It comprises a period of tuition followed by time for you practice. The cost is £10 per person and all equipment is provided.
If we do not have any 2 hour taster sessions scheduled, or you are unavailable on our scheduled
date(s), an ad hoc session may be arranged upon request (subject to tutor availability).
Taster Session – 3 hours
This session is ideal for a group of family, friends or colleagues who want a fun afternoon out. It
comprises a period of tuition and practice followed by a mini competition using conventional
targets. After a brief tea/ coffee break the session concludes with a mini competition using novelty
targets. A minimum of four participants is preferred for this option.
The cost is £15 per person and all equipment is provided.
Both the 2 hour and 3 hour taster sessions are usually run on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. It
may be possible to accommodate an evening session during the summer upon request.
Try Archery Day – 10am to 4pm
This is similar to the 3 hour taster session but with more time available for each section of the
programme. 10am to 4pm may sound like a long time but it is surprising how quickly the time passes when you are having fun. A lunch of a beef burger/sausage in a bap is included. This can be adapted to suit your dietary requirements.
This type of event has to take place on a Sunday to fit in with the availability of the field and our
tutors.
A minimum of six participants and three weeks notice is required.
The cost is £30 per person.
Both the taster sessions and the Try Archery Day use a one piece bow without a sight.
Beginners Course
These run over three consecutive weekends (two Sundays followed by a Saturday). There is greater depth in tuition in safe shooting, target set up, bow set up and good shooting technique.
Participants initially learn to shoot barebow but then transition to shooting a recurve bow with a
sight. See beginners tab for further details.
All the above take place at our field at Farnham Bridge Farm just outside Rothley. For all the above sessions the minimum age is 8 years (there is no maximum ! ). Participants under the age of 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or other responsible adult.
Contact us at beginners.thefoxes@gmail.com for further information on any of the above or to make a booking.
